The Portland Hops had no problem beating the Virginia Black Bears, 13-2, at The BeerGarden. Ford Hampton, who leads the AL in extra base hits with 31, led the onslaught. He was 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for Portland. Portland pitcher Willis Flores got the win. He's now 3-5. Chase Yamada was tagged with the loss. Portland bumps their record to 26-21 with the win.

With Portland leading 9-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Hampton came up to bat against Virginia pitcher Marlon Valdez. Hampton hit a cutter to left-center for a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season put the Hops on top, 13-2.

"It's always fun to score a lot of runs," said Hampton.
