The Virginia Black Bears had to reckon with Vancouver Cascades hurler Jason Whaley. Whaley, who leads the AL in complete games with 1, overwhelmed the opposition in the 7-1 Cascades triumph. Vancouver is second in the American League Pons Division with a record of 30-20.

Chris Hoff drew 1 walk in 5 plate appearances for Vancouver. The 26-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Sean Anderson. It was his 1st walk of the season.

"I thought Jason threw the ball well across the board," said Vancouver manager Mick Simmons.
