Mariners Top Padres in Extras, 3-1
|
The Seattle Mariners topped the San Diego Padres, 3-1, in Western Region action at Petco Park. The standout performance belonged to Seattle pitcher and Rocklin, California, native Errol Medrano. Gaman Ramage, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 22nd save. The Mariners improved to a lofty 40-11.
Seattle used the clutch hitting of Alexis Loya to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Mariners the lead, 2-1. For the game, Loya had 2 singles and 2 doubles in 5 at-bats.
In postgame comments, Medrano said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
