Luther Broadnax knocked in 3 runs to help San Francisco beat Pittsburgh, 6-3. Broadnax produced 1 single, 1 double, and 1 home run. Tom Spears, the winner, goes to 4-3. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts over 7.1 innings. Rodney Burgess earned the save for San Francisco.

Broadnax had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a full count fastball from Alex Abreu, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Giants a 5-3 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Broadnax.
