Fireflies Stay Hot With 7-3 Win
|
A 3-RBI performance from Selim Moran helped the Columbia Fireflies beat the Asheville Tourists, 7-3. Checker Jenkins, credited with the win, is now 3-0. He allowed no runs on 4 hits. Jack Barclay earned save number 26 this season.
The Fireflies got a big at-bat from catcher Ben Rayford. For the game, Rayford was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Columbia a 4-3 lead.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Columbia manager Jason Earle.
