Young Leads Miami Past New York
|
Marlins Park was the site for Eastern Region action featuring the New York Mets and Miami Marlins.
Rick Young was superb against New York. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the EAST with a 11.2 K/9 rate, had a curveball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Marlins victory. The score was 3-0. The 4th-place Marlins are 23-30.
Young, who dominated for Miami, earned the victory to move to 6-0. He was in control the whole game, scattering 1 hit over 6 innings, while striking out 11. New York batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"I just made my pitches," said Young, "and the ball kept missing the bat."
