The Delmarva Shorebirds defeated the Kannapolis Intimidators, 12-5, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Delmarva third baseman Ron Marcum had a superb performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Diego De La Torre was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. The first-place Shorebirds, at 70-45, lead the South Atlantic League Northwest Division by 3½ games.

Early in the game, Marcum had a 2-run home run for Delmarva. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Shorebirds on top, 2-0.

"We'd like to put some distance between ourselves and the rest of the division," said Marcum.
