Groetken Propels Rome to 2-0 Win
|
Beau Groetken, who is tied for 4th in the SAL with a 2.38 ERA, never let the Grasshoppers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his splitter, to pitch the Braves to a win, 2-0. Rome, at 78-41, sits in second place in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division.
Groetken, a native of Serenada, Texas, was dealing all game. He kept Greensboro hitters off-balance, while giving the Braves 7.1 quality innings. Groetken threw 101 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 7.
"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Groetken said.
