Gabe Strausser did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Columbia Fireflies from being beaten, 8-7, to the Savannah Bananas at Spirit Communications Park. Strausser went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Hal Wood got the save, the 11th for him this season. The Bananas improved to 79-40.

Savannah used the hitting of Tom Jeffcoat to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bananas on top, 4-1. For the game, Jeffcoat had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We got the victory," said Jeffcoat. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
