Pit Spitters Get Clonked by Hillcats, 6-1
|
The Traverse City Pit Spitters and Lynchburg Hillcats riveted fans at Calvin Falwell Field.
Traverse City had no answer for Lynchburg Hillcats hurler Yuvenal Brito, who overwhelmed Pit Spitters hitters as the Hillcats coasted to victory, 6-1. In 5.2 innings, Brito surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed no runs.
With one out in the top of the eighth, Cade Powell had a chance to do some damage. Traverse City was trailing 6-0, but had the bases loaded. Powell came to the plate against Henry Duff, and grounded out, driving in 1 run. But it was not enough to complete a Traverse City comeback.
The win makes Lynchburg 52-57.
