The Winston-Salem Dash outlasted the Virginia Beach Mariners, 3-2, in 10 innings. Robert Burton provided some punch at the plate for Winston-Salem. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. The win belonged to Andy Douglas in relief. His record improves to 5-5. Kenzie Cortez took the loss for Virginia Beach. The second-place Dash improved to 64-50.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Burton hit a fastball from Kenzie Cortez for a run-scoring single. The Dash, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Put a star next to this win," Burton said.
