The Lakeland Flying Tigers dumped the Oxford Owls, 12-10, in large part due to right fielder Mike Burton. On the day, Burton slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for the Flying Tigers. Sammy Arguilez earned the save for Lakeland, his 34th of the year. The 4th-place Flying Tigers go to 67-49.

Neville Lipp had a big 2-run home run for the Flying Tigers in the top of the third inning. With Lakeland leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Roarke Ambrose and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 13th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flying Tigers ahead, 3-0.

Lipp said afterward that the win gets the team one step closer to its goal.
