The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
The Charlotte Stone Crabs got great pitching from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jerry Aguilar, allowing them to bump off the Virginia Beach Mariners, 1-0. Adam Sinclair closed out the game, earning his 19th save.
Aguilar earned the win to move to 13-5. In his 8-inning performance, he scattered 3 hits, striking out 7 and walking 3. The right-hander allowed the Mariners few scoring opportunities.
"Jerry did a heck of a job," said Charlotte manager Omar Garcia.
Charlotte's record now stands at 69-44, placing them third in the East Coast League Florida Division.
