Sheldon Bloomquist pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Missoula Osprey, despite Bloomquist's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Burlington Sock Puppets at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field. Salvador Vasquez, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-3. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 1 run, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Earning his 6th save of the year was Alex Gentle.
Burlington used a clutch at-bat from Gaman Peterman to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Sock Puppets ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Sock Puppets manager Victor Rodriguez, "I like our chances."
Burlington's record now stands at 21-35, placing them 8th in the Pioneer League South Division.
