Cavalry Lose as Sea Unicorns Stage Late Rally
|
The Gold Beach Sea Unicorns faced a tough opponent in New Westminster pitcher Denny Murphy, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Redding Grounds by a final score of 4-2. Murphy went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. The victory gives Gold Beach a record of 31-26.
Gold Beach third baseman Albert Scinta contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 49th hit of the season and put the Sea Unicorns ahead, 2-0.
Scinta attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
