Chiefs Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Owls, 4-1
|
The timely hitting of A.J. Alvarado helped the Wenatchee Chiefs down the Roseburg Owls, 4-1. Alvarado was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Chiefs. Eric Murphy finished to wrap up his 1st save. With the win, Wenatchee goes to 19-36, while the Owls fall to 15-40.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Micah Perkins came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Roseburg pitcher Madinson Collado, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Wenatchee on top, 2-1.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Perkins told the Wenatchee Daily News. "Whatever it takes."
