Road Win Lifts State College to 2-1 Lead in WCS
The rookie looked like he belonged out there.

The State College Spikes sent 21-year-old right-hander Spook Shears to the mound for a high-pressure playoff start and he repaid their confidence, quieting the Auburn Doubledays on a day where the Spikes struggled to produce runs of their own. In the end, State College cobbled together enough to take the 2-1 decision. The win gave State College a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.

Shears allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 6 innings for the Spikes. He walked 0 and struck out 8.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Shears said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Falcon Park in Auburn.
