Santos, Spartans Wallop Volcanoes in Game 1 of WCS
|
The Olympia Spartans started the Wild Card Series in style, downing the visiting Salem-Keizer Volcanoes at Ballpark of Victoria by a score of 8-2 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Spartans third baseman Ronnie Santos went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
Santos had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third to put Olympia in front, 3-0. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run off Salem-Keizer pitcher Adrian Ibañez.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Olympia manager Jim Todd.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Victoria in Olympia.
