The London Royals got a sterling performance from pitcher Chris Romano, but the Montreal Expos still prevailed, 9-4. Romano threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The 5th-place Expos improved to 27-31.

With a runner on 3rd and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, left fielder Noel Richard delivered big for the Expos. Montreal was trailing 4-2 when he belted a 2-run home run.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Richard told the Montreal News. "It's as simple as that."
