Cocoa Gets 7-4 Road Win
|
At Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium, the Salem Red Sox and Cocoa Flyers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Cocoa Flyers defeated the Salem Red Sox, 7-4, at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Cocoa first baseman Armen Hayes had a superb performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Aaron Austin notched his 17th save in 19 chances.
Tom Betty had a big run-scoring double for the Flyers in the top of the third inning. With Cocoa leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jerry Kelly and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 20th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flyers ahead, 2-0.
"Nice to get this one," said Betty. "Wins have been hard to come by."
Salem's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
