The Traverse City Pit Spitters defeated the St. Lucie Mets, 5-4, in East Coast League action at Sun Sox Ballpark. Traverse City pitcher Elton Lykins had a standout performance. The 6th-place Pit Spitters lifted their record to 58-75.

Traverse City designated hitter Jack Clifford contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 121st hit of the season and put the Pit Spitters ahead, 5-3.

"The most important thing is that we won," Clifford said.
