The Kannapolis Intimidators got a stellar effort from pitcher Johnson Viele, helping Kannapolis score a win over the visiting Greensboro Grasshoppers, 4-2. Viele yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 11-4. Picking up the save was Ronaldo Castaneda, his 38th.
Greg Rick, who is tied for 3rd in the SAL in runs scored with 90, aided the Kannapolis cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 4 with a double.
