Shortstop Mandy goes 3-for-4 in Columbus Win
|
Getting offensive support from Gerald Mandy, the Columbus Catfish topped the Hagerstown Suns, 9-4. Mandy went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 5 for the Catfish. The 7th-place Catfish have a record of 50-86.
Columbus used a well-timed hit by P.J. Tidwell to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Catfish ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Columbus manager Francisco Avalos.
