The Hickory Crawdads stopped the Charleston RiverDogs, 8-6, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The Crawdads got a big game from Lewis Lipman, who went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. Hickory reliever Nate Le Maire snagged the win, upping his record to 3-4. Anrique Gonzalez shouldered the loss. The 7th-place RiverDogs dropped to 57-76.

Whitmire, South Carolina native Lewis Lipman had a clutch at-bat in the top of the ninth for the Crawdads. With Hickory trailing 6-5, he hit a 3-run home run.

"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Lipman, "but we could've played better."
