Owls Suffer 4-1 Setback
|
Bend pitcher Bud Lorenz did his part in helping his team beat the Roseburg Owls, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winner was Lorenz. He threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Marco Mendez. Earning his 5th save for Bend was P.J. Denherder.
The game could have flipped with one out in the top of the sixth. But Bud Lorenz made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Roseburg trailing 4-1, Lorenz threw a sinker to Santiago Jardon, who popped out.
Bend is now 39-20, Roseburg 6-53.
