Spartans Drop AquaSox, 2-1
|
In a tightly-contested game between the Olympia Spartans and the Everett AquaSox, pitcher Langston Marsh was outstanding. The Olympia left-hander, who leads the NWL with a 2.00 ERA, propelled his team's 2-1 win. Marsh, now 2-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Earning his 1st save for Olympia was John Dibling.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jim Costa? The Olympia second baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Spartans on top, 2-1. For the game, Costa had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Tough loss," said Everett manager Domingo Martínez. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
The Spartans go to 41-22, putting them first in the Northwest League North Division.
