Stampede Suffer Humbling Loss
|
The Ogden Raptors trumped the Medicine Hat Stampede, 13-2, at Ballpark of Medicine Hat. Ogden catcher Yosvani Montarbo was terrific. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Tristan Bélanger, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-3. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The second-place Raptors sport a record of 45-22.
Ogden used the bat of Ángel Arauza to get the win. The center fielder spanked a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Raptors ahead, 7-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it altered the outcome.
Medicine Hat manager Brantley Johnson called the blowout loss "a real stinker."
