The Raleigh Cubs have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Reidsville Red Sox, winning, 9-8, at Reidsville Fields. Cubs second baseman José Rosa hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. The win cuts the deficit facing the Cubs to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.

Raleigh won the game in part because of R.J. Daniels. The first baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 9-8. For the game, Daniels had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Raleigh skipper Liam Roberts.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Reidsville Fields in Reidsville.
