Cruz, Mexico City Prevail in Pitchers' Duel
Right-hander Mateo Cruz mesmerized the Puebla Mermen while leading the Mexico City Diablos Rojos to a 1-0 victory. The Diablos Rojos' win now puts them at 19-13.

Cruz, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 9 in 7 innings and gave up no runs.

Cruz, who is tied for 10th in the LLM in strikeouts with 34, moves to 5-2 on the year with 34 strikeouts.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Cruz told the Mexico City Bulletin. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
