Rogue Valley Takes Divisional Series Game 1, Clauson Stars
|
The Rogue Valley Dodgers powered past the visiting Abbotsford Canucks, 3-2, in the opener of the Divisional Series at Medford Ballpark. Rogue Valley starting pitcher Reed Clauson threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs, to lead the charge. The Dodgers now lead the series 1-0.
Rogue Valley third baseman Romeo Veverka helped the Dodgers go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Veverka hit a run-scoring single off Abbotsford pitcher Ulysses Roberts.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Rogue Valley manager Ryland Rafferty told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Medford Ballpark in Medford.
