Orioles Top Red Sox in Extra Frames, Take 2-1 Series Lead
|
With right-hander Jaxson Elliott leading the charge, the Hampton Orioles got past the Reidsville Red Sox, 5-3, in extra innings in Game 3 of the Divisional Series. Elliott threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball at Reidsville Fields as Hampton managed to grab a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Hampton used the hitting of Lanny Sears to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the 15th inning to put the Orioles on top, 3-2. For the game, Sears had 1 home run and 3 singles in 8 at-bats.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Orioles," said Elliott.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Reidsville Fields in Reidsville.
