Ruiz Helps San Jose Take Wild Card Series Game 1
|
The San Jose Giants started the Wild Card Series in style, downing the visiting Lancaster JetHawks at San Jose Municipal Stadium by a score of 6-4 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Giants catcher Rickie Ruiz was 2-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
With the game tied, 4-4, in the bottom of the seventh, Ruiz had a key at-bat for San Jose. With the bases loaded, Ruiz hit a 2-run double off Tim Wright, making the score 6-4, Giants.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Ruiz told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at San Jose Municipal Stadium in San Jose.
