Hudson Valley Wins Wild Card Series
|
Hudson Valley center fielder Benjamin Berret couldn't hide his reaction when asked about being named MVP of the Wild Card Series.
"It's a nice honor," he said, failing to suppress a wide smile. The trophy was presented to Berret moments after his club eliminated the Oxford Owls to advance to the Divisional Series.
Hudson Valley won the final game by a score of 5-2 at Ballpark of Oxford and took the series 4-1.
"We won the series and that's the main thing," Berret said. "They were a tough team and we didn't want to take anything for granted."
For the series, Berret hit .333 with a .455 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 3 runs.
"He was tough to stop and that's a big reason they're there and we're here," said a dejected Oxford manager Yasel Pimentel.
The Divisional Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
