Raucous Centennial Field Crowd Propels Lake Monsters to 8-6 Victory; Series Tied at 2
|
In a crucial game, the Vermont Lake Monsters put on their best show, beating the West Virginia Black Bears by a final score of 8-6 today. Darren Minor went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Vermont and West Virginia are now tied at 2 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.
Mitchell Rutkowski, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2049 draft, chipped in for Vermont with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Rutkowski, "but a win in the playoffs is nothing to sniff at."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Centennial Field in Burlington.
