Franco, Flying Tigers Wallop Volcanoes in Game 1 of WCS
The Medford Flying Tigers started the Wild Card Series in style today, downing the visiting Salem-Keizer Volcanoes at Medford Grounds by a score of 8-1 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Flying Tigers catcher Jarrod Franco was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4.

The Flying Tigers took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Facing Salem-Keizer hurler Oscar Jolly with one out, Franco hit a grand slam home run.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Medford manager Jesus Cardone said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Medford Grounds in Medford.
