Almost There: Bristol On Cusp of WCS Triumph After 8-5 Win
The Bristol Pirates moved to within one game of the Divisional Series today, downing the visiting Erwin Mountaineers at Devault Memorial Stadium by a score of 8-5. Pirates third baseman Gareth Miramontes did some major damage. He was 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. The win gives the Pirates a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.

In the bottom of the third, Miramontes had one of his most important at-bats: a run-scoring triple off Nick Kitka that staked the Pirates to a 4-3 lead.

"Hopefully history will remember the 2052 Bristol Pirates as a group of guys who played their hardest and had each other's backs," Miramontes told reporters.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Devault Memorial Stadium in Bristol.
