Mountaineers Prevail, as Wild Card Series Goes to the Wire
Rookie Advanced fans were certainly not disappointed with this Appalachian League Wild Card Series.

The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Erwin Mountaineers prevailing over the Bristol Pirates to advance to the Divisional Series.

Erwin won the final game by a score of 4-1 at Ballpark of Edmonton and that sealed the series 4-3.

"Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said shortstop T.J. Rodrigues, who earned MVP honors.

For the series, Rodrigues hit .400 with a .471 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, 8 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Divisional Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
