Road Win Lifts Kingsport to 1-0 Lead in WCS
|
The Kingsport Mets started the Wild Card Series in style today, winning on the road against the Kinston Indians at Ballpark of Kinston by a score of 4-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Mets designated hitter Jon Sayre excelled. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice.
Sayre came through for Kingsport with a 2-run home run in the top of the first. He hit a first pitch fastball to left field, staking his team to a 2-0 lead.
"You never want to start a series with a loss, but I saw a lot of good things today," Indians manager Ivan Ibarra said. "I'm not worrying. Yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Kinston in Kinston.
