Kinston Indians manager Ivan Ibarra knew it was a gamble to give the start to a rookie. It was a good gamble to take.

Pitching in front of a hostile crowd, 23-year-old right-hander Osvaldo Stutts silenced the host Kingsport Mets at Hunter Wright Stadium today. The Indians shut out the Mets by a final score of 2-0, to give the Indians a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.

Benjamin Tryon, the 21-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Tryon contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Kinston up, 2-0.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Stutts.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport.
