Indians Clip Mets 2-1 in WCS Contest
|
The Kinston Indians and the Kingsport Mets will take the Wild Card Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Indians beat the Mets 2-1 at Ballpark of Kinston to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Kinston right-hander Jude DeLeo had a big role in the win. He threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball.
Had Chris Hoban not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Hoban hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Indians.
"Good team win," Hoban said. "I love it when a plan comes together."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Kinston in Kinston.
