Brewers Hammered by Ferdinand, Drop Game 4 to Stampede
|
Handed an opportunity to take a commanding lead in the Wild Card Series, the Helena Brewers could not close the deal.
Game 4 went into extra frames and the Medicine Hat Stampede emerged victorious, taking a 10-inning, 5-4 win. Medicine Hat second baseman Stephen Ferdinand was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs in the win at Kindrick Legion Field today to drag the Stampede back to parity. The clubs are now tied 2-2 in the best-of-7 series.
Medicine Hat needed the clutch hitting of T.J. Shattuck to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Stampede on top, 5-4. For the game, Shattuck had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was a test of wills," said Andy Rodgers, the Medicine Hat skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Kindrick Legion Field in Helena.
