Boise Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
The bats were silent for much of the day at Memorial Stadium. But Boise catcher Benjamin Jones conjured up just enough offense to carry the Hawks past the Medford Flying Tigers, 3-1. In a game dominated by the pitching staffs, Jones went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The Hawks now lead 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.
Jones hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second to help the Boise cause. The home run, which was hit off Osvaldo Ortiz, allowed Boise to take a 2-0 lead.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Jones.
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Medford Grounds in Medford.
