Idaho Falls Takes 2-1 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
|
A clutch 9th inning gave the Idaho Falls Chukars a walk-off win over the Butte Americans and a 2-1 lead in the Divisional Series at Melaleuca Field. Young designated hitter Luther Alford, 22, earned kudos after he was 2-3 with a home run and a walk.
T.J. Ortiz was the walk-off hero for Idaho Falls. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Chukars third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Butte skipper Danny Weiner, "and it cost us."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls.
