Mahoney Blasts Captains, Loons Take Game 1, 6-4
|
The Great Lakes Loons started the Divisional Series in style, winning on the road against the Lake County Captains at Classic Park by a score of 6-4 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Loons catcher Ethan Mahoney excelled. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.
Had Mahoney not come through in the top of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Mahoney hit a 2-run home run. The Loons took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Mahoney told the Great Lakes Times. "It's as simple as that."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Classic Park in Eastlake.
