Matadors Turn Back Mexico City, 5-3
|
Yucatan and Mexico City duked it out and the Matadors came out victorious.
A good performance from shortstop Jesús Muñoz helped the Yucatan Matadors defeat the Mexico City Diablos Rojos, 5-3. Muñoz was 2-3 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs for the Matadors. Gus Pérez got the win, improving to 12-2. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 11 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1.
With Yucatan leading 3-2 in the top of the sixth, Muñoz hit a run-scoring single off Mexico City hurler Mateo Cruz. It was the 61st hit of the season for Muñoz and put his team ahead, 4-2.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Muñoz.
Yucatan has now won 3 straight, while the Diablos Rojos have lost 3 in a row.
