Despite a fine performance by right fielder E.J. Lunsford, the Yucatan Matadors lost to the Mexico City Diablos Rojos, 4-3. Lunsford went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mexico City reliever Cullen Garnett picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Jakob Taylor shouldered the loss. The Diablos Rojos are now 44-40, while the Matadors fall to 36-48.

Mexico City took a 4-3 lead on Jeffrey Woodard's 21st home run of the season. The solo home run came off Yucatan pitcher Jakob Taylor in the bottom of the seventh.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Mexico City manager Roque Rivera.
