Steers Get Past Swordfish, 3-2, to Open RRCS
Their bats were silent and Sedona had a rookie on the mound. No problem.

On a day when the Steers struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 18-year-old starter Nadia Guadalupe. The right-hander quieted the Florence Swordfish at Goodyear Ballpark to help Sedona take the 3-2 decision and seize a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Regional Championship Series.

Sedona used the timely hitting of Connor Clendening to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Steers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Guadalupe. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Goodyear Ballpark in Florence.
