Gautreau, Cardinals Wallop Indians in Game 6 of WCS
|
The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cleveland Indians will take the Wild Card Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Cardinals beat the Indians, 8-1, at Busch Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. St. Louis designated hitter Asher Gautreau was 4-4 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 3.
Ethan Stevens contributed to the St. Louis win with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Cleveland manager Justin Jackson.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thursday, October 18th , 2063.
