Mariners Clip Cardinals, 3-2, in WCS Contest
|
Despite a great performance by St. Louis starter Thomas Brown, the Seattle Mariners defeated the Cardinals by the score of 3-2 at Busch Stadium. Brown threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball, but he couldn't prevent the Mariners from moving one game closer to the Division Championship Series. Seattle now leads the Wild Card Series 2-1.
Kent Koenitzer had a direct impact on the outcome. Koenitzer contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Seattle up, 3-2.
Seattle manager Jose Perez commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sunday, October 19th , 2064.
