Lee Britton knocked in 3 runs to help the New York Yankees win, 6-3, over the San Diego Padres. Lee Ratliff got the win, improving to 4-1. He held the Padres to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Cameron Manuel picked up the save, his 4th.

There was more than one reason the Yankees beat the Padres, but Britton's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
